pumpkin/frankenstien

This is my first painting. There is a total of 5 I have to complete. On the next one I will use more shades to make my face pop out better instead of looking like a pumpkin and frakenstien. :)

Oo La La

Now, here is the picture I am going to use for my self portait. I was told to bring an 8 1/2" by 11" black and white photo of my face. I am about to go to class now to see what is in store for the next project.

Painting Swatches

The next project in painting was a color exercise. I recieved swatches where I had to use my paints and make colors and see what color made what. Sometimes I was surprised to see that a certain color didn't turn out the way I had planned it too. This project is VERY TIME CONSUMING and made me want to pull my hair out. Below are pictures of me working on the project.
While on a volleyball trip, painting in my free time
I couldn't paint on the bus so I was mapping out what parts of what color I was to paint

"Twisted Nature"

"Twisted Nature"

Close up of twisters

Close up of tree being ripped out of ground
The picutres above are part of the first project in painting class. My partners were Arrington Grimmer and Sherry Landers. "Twisted Nature" is what we called our finished project. We have natural disasters such as tornadoes and a volcano in the far background. My favorite part of the piece is the twisters which were made out of a wrapping that came out of our boxes of our art supplies. I also loved the roots of the tree being shown to have the effect of the tree being ripped out of the ground. I enjoyed working with Arrington and Sherry and I believe our project turned out fantastic!

First Painting

This is my first painting in my class. There is a lot more detail when you look at the picture up close. I have fun painting trees. :)
